Headwaters NRC Trust hosts the annual Erie County Envirothon at Headwaters Park each May. The Envirothons challenge both high school and middle school students to expand their knowledge on various environmental topics, including Forestry, Wildlife, Aquatics, Soils/Land Use, and a yearly Current Issue. High school and middle school teams compete throughout the morning on these topics, with the winner earning a spot at the state competition.

The Trust provides funding for students to attend the state competition, and also the members of the first place team at the high school level scholarships to attend the Penn State Conservation Leadership School during the summer months. The winning middle school team is awarded a team field trip to engaging natural locations, such as the Holden Arboretum and the Penn Dixie Fossil Park and Nature Reserve.

The Trust is excited to be able to assist students with these environmental opportunities! If you or your company/agency is looking for a way to assist our mission, please contact our office.  We would be happy to work with you toward our common goal of providing challenging and enriching opportunities for Erie youth!
